On May 12, 2008 at 2.28 pm, the 8-magnitude earthquake strike Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province, China. Till date, deadly tremor has killed more than 32,000 people, injured more than 220,000 and destroyed more than 500,000 buildings. I have also read more than 6,000 schools were destroyed in this earthquake. Everyday watching the news in the TV made me felt so sadden. Life is fragile. You see the people being trapped in the debris and are waiting to pull out. When I saw on the TV that these people survive after more than 100 hours, I felt happy for them and admire their strong will power to live. Tents, foods and drinking waters are insufficient. These people have no homes.
施 比 受 更 有 福. 一 方 有 难 , 八 方 支 援. There are so many people in different countries all pour in their help to the people in China. The rescue teams that work every day and night to help pull out the survivors are great hero and we shall pay our high respect to these people. For normal people, donation have been pouring into China from all over the world to help the Chinese pass over their trouble, re-build their house, and etc etc…..
I have also contributed a small donation to the China Red Cross Society through our sister company in Suzhou China. 聚 少 成 多. Everyone in Singapore should also contribute their part to help the Quake-Hit China people. We have to remember - ‘We are very fortunate to be born and home in Singapore which is free of earthquake and water disaster’
